Abstract

Abstract A pulse polarographic method is described for determining traces of gallium in arsenic compounds. Interference from the reduction of the arsenic matrix was eliminated by a prior distillation of arsenic as arsenic(III)chloride or arsenic(V) bromide. The pulse polarographic sensitivity was 2.10−8 M in 6.5 M sodium perchlorate + 0.5 M sodium thiocyanate at pH 2, allowing the determination of as little as 0.03 gallium in a 1 g sample.
