This paper gives a review of the most important methods used for the detection and velocity analysis of neutral particles. After a short introduction the following points are discussed: detection by collision processes, detection by other methods, velocity analysis by time of flight techniques, velocity analysis by Doppler shifted laser spectroscopy.
