Abstract

The process of the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform, still under analysis, is considered a major breakthrough in the context of mental health policy as it questions and makes proposals aimed at breaking the traditional model of treatment, based on the knowledge of psychiatry and institutionalization. From the perspective of deinstitutionalization, such proposals are oriented towards the creation of a territorially based and multidisciplinary character service network, replacing psychiatric hospitals. Thus, this article analyzes the mental health policy adopted in Campos based on the proposals of the Psychiatric Reform.
