Abstract

At present, there are many researches on ultra high frequency (UHF) sensors used in GIS. The voltage level of GIS is higher, and more attention is paid to the early deterioration of insulation performance. The frequency of partial discharge (PD) signal is higher. The cycle of insulation deterioration in switchgear is long, and more attention is paid to the middle and late stage of insulation deterioration, and the frequency of PD signal needs to be paid more attention. Therefore, the research results of UHF sensor used in GIS can not be simply applied to switchgear. Taking the UHF sensor antenna for detecting the partial discharge of distribution network switchgear as the research object, the Archimedes spiral antenna has a wide working frequency band and excellent low-frequency working characteristics among the commonly used UHF antennas. Therefore, this paper designs an Archimedes spiral antenna for UHF sensor of distribution network switchgear with ANSYS HFSS. The S11 parameters of Archimedes spiral antenna with different outer diameters are studied. The S11 parameters are optimized by improving the two arm structure of Archimedes spiral antenna. The results show that the optimized Archimedes spiral antenna has a wide working frequency band and the S11 parameters are much lower than – 10 dB. This provides a theoretical basis for the design of UHF sensor antenna used in switch cabinet.KeywordsArchimedes spiral antenna analytical methodUHF antennaPartial discharge
