Abstract
In this paper, a compact microstrip wideband antenna is proposed for on body biomedical application. The antenna is designed to operate in the Industrial, Scientific and Medical band at 2.45GHz. The overall dimension of the recommended antenna is 30 × 40 × 1.76 mm3 and has an open end slotted fed line and a slotted ground plane. Parasitic patch is used to enhance the bandwidth of the recommended antenna. The main features of this antenna are low profile, flexible, wideband and biocompatible. The performance of the proposed antenna is analyzed in terms of impedance bandwidth, return loss (dB), VSWR, Specific Absorption Rate (SAR), radiation pattern, gain, and directivity. The antenna performance is analyzed in a three-layer human phantom model. The results obtained from the simulation show an impressive impedance matching having a return loss of around −48.99 dB at 2.45 GHz and the bandwidth coverage of nearly 900 MHz. To design & simulate the antenna, CST (Computer Simulation Technology) Microwave Studio is used.
