Abstract

If one uses the impulse approximation, the amplitues for the reactions K+d→K0π+d and $$K^ - d \to \bar K^0 \pi ^ - d$$ can be expressed as a function of the amplitudes of the corresponding reactions on a free neutron and a free proton. These neutron and proton reactions are related through crossing, and the same Veneziano amplitude can be used for them. This is an interesting test of the model since pion exchange is forbidden in these reactions and the result depends on the relative phase of the neutron and proton amplitudes. We obtain a fair description of both coherent reactions.
