Abstract

Migration expansion is especially pronounced in the dynamic processes that take place within contemporary societies. The reasons for large migrations of the population are primarily found in the imposed conflicts by the world's leading countries. The latest largest conflict started at the end of 2010 with the „Arab Spring“, that is a wave of demonstrations against the dictatorial regimes in the Arab countries: Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Iraq, Morocco, etc. The crisis continues with the war that started in Afghanistan (2001 - 2021), which is considered the longest war in the history of the United States, and then the civil war in Syria, which began in 2011. The consequences of these war conflicts manifested in a large number of refugees coming from the Middle East, North and Central Africa, and Central and South Asia, who have moved to Europe. An important strategic direction in the migration route to Europe went through the Balkans. The assumption is well-founded on demographic indicators, that just the underdeveloped and the developing countries of the so-called „Western Balkans“ in the incoming period, will accept the largest number of emigrants, in order to resolve the long-standing migration crisis.
