Abstract
The article reveals the demand for social pedagogical (complex) support in different educational, social and other institutions of Lithuania. The research was conducted in randomly selected institutions. 525 questionnaires were randomly distributed among the principles of different educational and other institutions providing social services aiming to explore the demand for social pedagogical support, as well as to investigate the demand for modern and innovative training of specialists in cooperation with Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences. 232 replies were received. The research results revealed the demand for social pedagogical (complex) support in different educational institutions. Out of all the respondents (N = 232), most (N = 214) maintained that there was a demand for social pedagogical (complex) support in their institutions and that specialists providing such support were needed. The research also highlighted a demand for social pedagogues having special knowledge and abilities in small NGOs that provided specialised services; however, they are expected to pay 20 % of the costs related to training a future specialist, which is not demanded from the institutions in the public sector. Public institutions that need a social pedagogue are reluctant to sign an intended cooperation agreement to train social pedagogues for their institutions, as they are afraid that they will not have a possibility to employ the specialist in three years.
