Abstract

Defect production cross sections and spontaneous recombination volumes of Al and Cu for several ion-irradiations have been determined by means of electrical resistivity measurements at liquid-helium temperatures. Measured defect production cross sections have been compared with calculated ones. The damage efficiencies, i.e. the ratio of the experimental to the calculated cross section, are obtained as a function of PKA median energy. The spontaneous recombination volumes are found to depend on the PKA energy spectrum.
