Abstract

The γ-ray spectra associated with the decay of 126Ba in equilibrium with its daughter 126Cs have been studied with the use of a 50 cm 3 Ge(Li) and a thin window intrinsic Ge detector. A large number of γ-rays have been observed to decay with a 100±2 min half-life and are assigned to 126Ba and its shortlived ( T 1 2 = 1·6 min ) daughter 126Cs. Preliminary measurements of γ-γ coincidences have been performed using two Ge(Li) detectors and a 4096 × 4096 two parameter analyzer. Partial decay schemes of 126Ba and 126Cs are suggested.
