Abstract: Leslie Barnes's afterword pays tribute to Lê, our "dear departed," drawing on individual reflection, correspondence, and Lê's writings on loss and literary communion. Following Lê's migration to France in 1977, she immersed herself in a life of books and authors who shaped her identity as a writer and an individual. These words guided her through the death she would later mourn and the one she would contemplate throughout her career. Reflecting on the enduring impact of Lê's legacy, Barnes reminds us that though she is gone, her own words still beckon, inviting us to embark on collective journeys of discovery.
