Date of death of Bajo Nikolic Pivljanin and the Battle at Vrtijeljka

Abstract

Proceeding from the existing historiographic knowledge and the newly found results of archival research, several important data related to Bajo Nikolic Pivljanin are considered. On the basis of an archival document preserved in the Museo Correr Library (Venice) it is established that the date of death of the famous haiduk is 4 May 1685, therefore it is proposed to date the Battle at Vrtijeljka in that time context as well.
