Abstract

After the end of the cold war, the clear distinction between peace and security was blurred. Political debates in Germany about peace were dominated increasingly by terms of security. Especially the concept of a broader, comprehensive, and netted security was gaining ground. Civil peace organizations reacted by developing their own concept from 2010 on, a concept that took up their experiences and that was based on the knowledge of peace science. This approach defines principles and dimensions of action that correspond to the logic of peace. It is suitable not only to align nongovernmental organizations’ work in the field, but also to reflect both state action and political concepts.
