Abstract
This article aims to take stock of the student occupations that occurred in the state network of Rio de Janeiro in 2016, from the perspective of the class struggle. In this sense, we understand that the school occupation movement was a struggle undertaken by high school students against the precariousness of public education resulting from neoliberal policies. In the end, we point out the challenges faced by the student movement with the rise of conservatism and possible ways out for social transformation.
