Abstract
The article constitutes an attempt to outline general vision of human that emerges from the short stories of Thomas Ligotti. There were analyzed works from the volume Teatro Grottesco . The writer presented a coherent, clearly nihilistic worldview. Ligotti strips away any features of human uniqueness and shows man as a slave of powerful forces, devoid of will and an ability to act. The analysis was carried out taking into account the metaphors typical of Ligotti, i.e. puppets and corporations.
