Abstract

The dictionary definitions of the word 'space' do not contain a description of the axiological coloring in the entry structure, but this concept, despite its initial neutrality, is subject to both positive and negative evaluation, which is presented on the basis of the phraseology of the Italian language. The author attempts to demonstrate that the positive or negative axiology for spatial dimension is based on preconceptual directional image schemas that interact often with other schemas and different cognitive domains in the context of use.
