Abstract
The issues raised in this text are aimed at presenting the thesis that full recognition of the negative consequences of the 1986 Chernobyl disaster for the traditional cultural heritage of Polissia (tangible and intangible) requires taking into account the mass Stalinist repressions and the occurrence of the Holodomor in the area of central Polissia (primarily for Kyiv Oblast). It is particularly important to determine the extent and significance of the losses of the Poleshuks heritage attributed in discussions to the multidimensional effects of mass population displacement actions carried out in the most contaminated areas of Ukraine. After the catastrophe, there was a complete loss of settlement continuity, but Soviet totalitarianism had brought about a far-reaching destruction of the social fabric and a disintegration of traditional society long before Chernobyl.
