Abstract

ABSTRACT Industrial field experience has shown that remote single-point monitoring of the surface of wastewater streams using an infrared reflectance instrument is an effective method of detecting oil films associated with oil in water concentrations as low as one part per million (ppm) in turbulent flow patterns. Four operational case histories of installations in petroleum refineries and manufacturing plants illustrate the application of an infrared oil film monitor.
