Abstract
The article is devoted to the definition of the functional role of the cultural code in the theory and practice of social and cultural activities. The cultural code is a semantic matrix, the correlation of information with certain symbols, allowing us to understand their meaning. Modern socio-cultural activity is used as a powerful resource for the formation of the cultural component of Russian civic identity. The heuristic significance of the culturological approach to the study of the determinants of socio-cultural activity is revealed. There is a co-evolution of the cultural code and the content of socio-cultural activities. It is argued that, while undergoing historical changes, the cultural code retains the status of a semantic core and system-forming factor; there is an ontological unity of the cultural code and socio-cultural practices. The cultural code of Russia is aimed at strengthening the Russian statehood; it is the key to a shared vision of the world. There is a deep relationship and mutual influence of the potential of socio-cultural activities and the cultural code in the system of pedagogical activity. Scientists of the Siberian Federal University analyze the educational process as a space that helps solve a set of problems in the formation of a cultural code among young people in forms that are convincing to them and contribute to the process of their socialization in society.
