Abstract

Nd3+:(Ba0.32Sr0.68)5Nb4O15 crystal was grown by Czochralski method for the first time. The refractive indexes were measured. The polarized absorption and emission spectra were investigated at room temperature. The absorption cross-section and emission cross-section were presented. Based on Judd-Ofelt theory, the intensity parameters Ωt=2, 4, 6, radiative transition rates A, radiative lifetime τr and fluorescent branching ratio β have been obtained. The results show that Nd3+:(Ba0.32Sr0.68)5Nb4O15 crystal may be regarded as a potential solid-state laser gain medium material.
