Abstract
Abstract This chapter focuses on the different strategies in the management and utilization of information on crop wild relatives for use in biodiversity conservation programmes. Highlight is given on the 'In situ conservation of crop wild relatives through enhanced information management and field application' (UNEP/GEF Crop Wild Relatives Project), a UNEP/GEF-supported project that addresses national and global needs to improve food security through effective conservation and sustainable use of crop wild relatives involving five countries (Armenia, Bolivia, Madagascar, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan) and six international organizations (IPGRI, FAO, BGCI, IUCN, UNEP-WCMC and BLE).
