Abstract
- In this paper the assumption that bipolar scales are unidimensional, which is implicit in the - classical theories of personality, is discussed based on a review of the literature on the topic. A comparison between these results, obtained using - classical psychometric methods and those emerged in previous studies conducted by the authors using the methodology of the experimental phenomenology of perception is proposed. These studies have consistently revealed that bipolar scales traditionally assumed as basic structures of human spatial experience, do not lie on the same unidimensional continuum.
