Abstract

To meet new and continuing demands on library services while absorbing cuts to budgets, a small academic library reorganized its departmental structure. Access Services, formerly a unit within the Public Services Department, was merged with the Technical Services Department under the new title Bibliographic, Access, and Metadata Services (BAMS). Public Services has refocused its efforts on information literacy and outreach under the title Research, Instruction and Outreach Services (RIOS). BAMS is now in a position to leverage synergies in collections, cataloging, and lending services while providing opportunities for cross-trained staff to work more effectively with users as well as behind the scenes.
