Abstract

Rapid urbanization is causing an increase in the poor, a breakdown in the sense of community, and anincrease in the crime rate, thereby lowering the level of housing welfare for residents. One of the socialefforts to solve these housing quality problems is 'Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design(CPTED)', an attempt to prevent criminal behavior through environmental improvement. In addition tothe study on the causal effect of persimmons, we tried to understand the effect of CPTED factors on'housing satisfaction'. To this end, the implications and empirical analysis of the CPTED project in Korea shown in thecurrent status and case studies were analyzed to analyze the impact of CPTED on housing satisfactionand future development plans as follows. First, the future direction of the CPTED project should not only improve physical facilities centered oncrime prevention but also link projects that can improve the quality of housing. Second, continuous policy support is needed so that CPTED is not a one-time policy or concentratedon specific areas and buildings. Third, as a result of the empirical analysis, it was possible to confirm the mediating effect of 'crimesafety' in each factor model. Therefore, it is necessary to induce the participation of residents, who arethe driving force for continuing and directly benefiting from the project effects, rather than being led bythe public or developer.
