Abstract

Investigation of single-electron tunneling through two quantum dots in series shows that when dot-dot and dot-lead capacitances are small, there is no electrostatic interaction in the transport despite the dots being connected by tunneling barrier. When those capacitances are large, however, there is an electrostatic interaction. These results are consistent with our Monte Carlo calculations.
