Abstract

Objective To investigate the correlation of early diabetic kidney disease with type 2 diabetic male erectile dysfunction (ED).Methods Three hundred and fifty-three diabetic male patients were classified into early diabetic kidney disease group(30 mg/24 h ≤ UAER < 300 mg/24 h and renal function abnormal)and nondiabetic kidney disease group (UAER < 30 mg/24 h and renal function normal).All the diabetic male patients accepted physical examination and past history and blood biochemistry detection.Erectile function(EF) was evaluated with intemafional index of EF( IIEF-5 ).Results Eighty-eight patients(82.2% ) were found to have ED in early diabetic kidney disease group,and 152patients(61.8% ) in nondiabetic kidney disease group.Diabetic kidney disease was positively correlated with diabetic erectile dysfunction ( P < 0.01 ).Conclusions Early diabetic kidney disease plays an important role in the development of ED in diabetic male patients.Controlling of diabetes and reduce the incidence of early diabetic kidney disease has important significante for reducing the incidence of DED.
