Abstract

Abstract Five treatments were replicated 4 times for control of last-instar jojoba loopers in a 5-yr-old jojoba plantation near Tacna, Ariz. Each plot consisted of 20 ft of row in a randomized complete block design. Treatments were applied with a hand-held CO2 backpack sprayer calibrated to deliver 8.7 gal/acre at 30 psi. Both sides of the plot row were treated on 27 May. Counts were taken at 1 and 3 DAT by spraying a directed mist into the canopy and counting the agitated loopers as they moved violently about or hung from the foliage on a silken strand.
