Abstract

Abstract Plots were planted 14 Mar with a Val-Mar applicator (seeding rate; 6 lb/acre) on the Dye Ranch, Pomeroy, WA. Ten insecticides were applied 23 Jun near the end of full bloom. Spray treatments were applied using a Rears low pressure, tractor boom sprayer calibrated to deliver 21 gal/acre at 50 psi and 5 mph. Fifteen 8002 flat fan nozzles with 100 mesh screen were arranged at 22 inch spacings on a 20 ft boom. Plots were 20 x 30 ft, replicated 4 times in a randomized complete block design. Treatments were evaluated at 2, 9, 15, and 21 DAT with 2 (180°) sweeps with a standard 15 inch diam sweep net. Temperatures and wind speed during treatment were 78-80°F and 3 mph, respectively. Total precipitation during the chemical evaluation period was 1.68 inches.
