Abstract
This research paper aims to empirically investigate the extent to which Total Quality Management (TQM) in family-owned businesses affects the achievement of sustainable development. A quantitative approach was adopted through the design of a research tool in the form of a questionnaire. This latter was distributed to a sample of 100 middle and upper-level managers in 22 Algerian family owned- businesses. The study concluded that Total Quality Management with its five elements (Leadership, Strategic planning, Customer focus, Employee training and employee involvement) in family-owned businesses has a positive impact on achieving sustainable development and its three dimensions, namely: the economic, social, and environmental dimensions.
