Abstract

Direct blow to the chin causes the hunting bow effect and transmits the blow to the condyle causing them to fracture. This is called as the contrecoup injury of the mandible. This report presents a case of 26-year-old male with left parasymphysis and bilateral condylar fracture. The treatment protocol followed was open reduction and internal fixation of left parasymphysis & right condylar fracture and closed reduction of left condylar fracture. In post-operative period, the patient did not experience any trismus, infection, sialocoele or wound dehiscence.
