Abstract

Besides problems related to secularization highlighted in the previous chapter, there recently has been (1) a renewed interest in matters related to religion and spirituality on American campuses. These new developments have created the need for those in higher education to engage with certain themes that come to the forefront in a pluralistic society, such as (2) religious pluralism and the need for (3) religious literacy and interreligious dialogue. In such a (post)secular environment, pentecostal colleges and universities have a unique contribution to make by offering an alternative kind of higher education centered on the power and personhood of the Holy Spirit, rather than some vague form of spirituality.
