Abstract

Objective: To describe the stages of construction and validation of the Nursing Care Self-Assessment Scale in Obstetric Services. Methods: Methodological study, based on the Psychometric Model proposed by Pasquali. The stages were covered: theoretical foundation; selection and elaboration of items and domains; content validation. Descriptive statistical analysis was performed. Internal validity of the construct analyzed by the Content Validity Coefficient and internal consistency by Cronbach's alpha. Results: Scale with 31 items for self-assessment of obstetric nursing care evaluated by 7 experts. Items with a Content Validity Coefficient of less than 0.8 were modified. Second evaluation, with 5 experts, resulted in a Content Validity Coefficient greater than 0.8. Semantic analysis carried out with 56 nursing professionals. In the end, the scale consisted of 23 questions and obtained a Cronbach's alpha of 0.764. Conclusions: The scale demonstrated good results in the content validation process, verbal comprehension and internal consistency.
