Abstract
T HIS PORT iS based upon the ill-fated 1972 attempt to revise the North Dakota State Constitution. Delegate attitude change about interest group activity is mapped by employing panel data. The role attitude about interest groups is particularly relevant since group demands were highly visible during Convention proceedings and had a significant impact upon final voter rejection of the proposed revised docurment. A number of variables are identified in an attempt to discover characteristics associated with attitude stability. The first variable is a novel one; it is a composite of occupation, political party affiliation, and membership in a structurally strategic group. The second and third variables are the familiar factors of prior elective governmental experience and political interest. The last variable is ideological and issue consistency.
