Abstract
On June 6, 1900, a Royal Order authorized the creation of a College of Physicians and another of Pharmacists for the towns of Cartagena and La Unión in the province of Murcia. The College of Pharmacists was established on September 1, 1900 with a Governing Board chaired by Eduardo Romero Germes, Gonzalo Robles Fernández as secretary, first member Antonio Rodríguez Comellas, second member Alfonso Carrión Inglés and treasurer José Díaz Benzal. Starting from the pharmacists of both towns in the last third of the 19th century, the history of the application for the College, the constitution process, the news about its operation and the cause of its dissolution on May 30, 1904 are reviewed. In addition to the list of registered pharmacists, the biography of the five members of its Governing Board is recalled and the constitution of the College is analyzed in relation to the cantonal uprising of 1873. Keywords: College of Pharmacists of Cartagena and La Unión; Medical-Pharmaceutical Academy of Cartagena; Government Board; Eduardo Romero Germes
