Journal of the American Society for Naval EngineersVolume 65, Issue 2 p. 425-429 CONSIDERATION OF THE PHENOMENON OF STATIC ELECTRICITY WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO ITS GENERATION BY THE FLOW OF LIQUIDS, AND POSSIBLE PRECAUTIONS AGAINST DISCHARGE OF STATIC CHARGES IN THE PRESENCE OF VOLATILE INFLAMMABLE OR EXPLOSIVE MIXTURES, GASSES OR LIQUIDS CAPTAIN CARL J. LAMB, CAPTAIN CARL J. LAMB USNR CAPTAIN LAMB who spent three years at the Naval Academy and was commissioned in the Naval Reserve in June, 1917, has contributed seven previous articles to the JOURNAL. In addition to a long period of time in the central station and marine departments of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, he has spent many years at sea in the Navy and Merchant Marine, and holds unlimited Marine Chief Engineer's License, steam and motor, in addition to professional Engineer licenses for the states of Connecticut and Indiana. At the present time Captain LAMB is again on active duty as Supervisory Inspector of Naval Material at Houston, Texas.Search for more papers by this authorC. R. ROWE, C. R. ROWE AINSMAT SOUTHWESTERN DISTRICT (PETROLEUM) MR. ROWE has been the Assistant Inspector of Navy Material, in charge of the inspection and shipment of Navy procured petroleum products in the states of Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. He attended Georgia Tech and Texas University and is a Lieutenant Commander in the U. S. Naval Reserve. He formerly held positions with the Shell Oil Company at its Houston Refinery and with E. W. Saybolt & Company, commercial petroleum inspectors. He has recently been transferred to the Southern Air Procurement District, with duties corresponding to those of AinsMat in the Navy.Search for more papers by this author CAPTAIN CARL J.
