Abstract
This article is based on a report commissioned by the World Tourism Organization (WTO) in 1992. The report's objectives are: to outline the background to and the current status of computerized reservations services as provided by the airline CRS systems, vendor (ie hotel group or tour operator) systems and destination databases; examine the main uses of these systems and identify current trends; and identify possible policy issues for public tourist offices from these developments.
