Abstract

A procedure for comprehensive evaluation of environmental quality by a conference of a residents' group is proposed and examined by a case study in relation to the environment of roadside areas. The procedure is characterized by conducting a computer-aided Delphi conference for choosing the weights of relative importance of evaluation items. The criterion for comprehensive evaluation is given in a linear combination of the values of individual evaluation items weighted by their relative importances. In the case study, which was conducted at the Tsukuba Science City, the evaluated values of individual items and their weights were obtained through a group survey and a Delphi conference, respectively. The results indicate the usefulness of the proposed procedure by conference for the comprehensive environmental evaluation.
