Abstract
The partition coefficients of nitrous acid in the system TBP 30%-Dodecane-UO 2 (NO 3) 2-HNO 3-H 2O have been measured. An original experimental method avoiding nitrous acid decomposition was used. The variations of the partition coefficients versus uranium and acid concentrations are explained by simple calculations. The behaviour of nitrous acid in multi-stage counter-current extraction has been studied. The important decomposition of HNO 2 does not affect the values of the partition coefficient in each stage.
