Abstract
ABSTRACT The present paper introduces an attractive new type of stepping motors employing a compliant core rotor and conventional 3-phase stator. The stepping of mmf's are produced by a suitable electronic circuit designed specially for this purpose. Also, the MOTOROLA-6809 microprocessor is used to control the motor operation The motor is tested by measuring the single step response. The results are compared with that obtained from slotted rotor stepping motor. The behaviour of the proposed type has demonstrated the feasibility of using the compliant core rotor as a tepping motor. This motor is characterized by a relatively high developed torque at very low speeds. Also, the oscillations occured at the end of each step are of low level compared with the conventional types and assist in improving its stability A mathematical model is given based on calculating the single step response.and taking into consideration the torque component due to the contact force of the flexible portion. An acceptable correlation between measured and predicted result is obtained.
