Abstract
Two dynamics dragline models are developed and compared for efficient dragline maintenance and numerical analysis. The first model is built in MATLAB/Simulink interface by the simultaneous constraint method based on the Newton–Euler equations. The second model is created in ADAMS environment using virtual prototype technology with Lagrange equations. Both models are of the rigid multi-body systems to catch the major kinematics and dynamics behavior of the dragline front-end. The front-end motions and the rope loads time history are recovered from the simulation. The numerical results are compared between the two models. The models are evaluated in terms of structural loading, model structural member’s simplification, and parameterized modeling development. The study is significant to provide a solid foundation for further mining machinery dynamics analysis.
