Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of escitalporam in the treatment of depression. Methods 68 patients with depression randomly devided into escitalopram group and paroxetine group for 6 weeks. clinical efficacy was evaluated using Hamilton depression scale(HAMD) and Hamilton anxiety scale (HAMA) and treatment emergent symptoms scales(TESS)were used to evaluate the advense effects. Results The effective rate of escitalopram was94. 1% and paroxetine group was91.1%. Escitalopram group showed a highter response rate compared with paroxetine group after one week treatment. Conclusion Escitalopram is an effective and safe drug in the treatment of depression. Key words: Escitalopram; Paroxetine; Depression
