COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF SPORT SELECTION SYSTEMS IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES

Abstract

The aim of the research is to explore the sport selection systems in different countries and do a comparative analysis. Commitment to selection in professional sport is a required procedure from the early stages of training and it enables coaches to identify talented and gifted children. Actually the requirements for athletes are becoming increasingly rigorous and few athletes involved in sport may have good performance. Hence, there is a need for sport selection. This is by far very relevant topic in Armenia, too, for we have “limited” number of good and promising athletes. A more massive survey is planned to be carried out among coaches and professionals within sport-related fields to find out what skills and talents they consider important for different sports. In addition to ongoing research, as a final result, theoretical and practical councils are foreseen to be established to help form a unified system of sport selection and increase the efficiency of talented athletes’ selection.
