Abstract

In this digital world, the transmission of data from source to destination is based on some routing protocol that chooses the best path between any two nodes. So, to compare Routing Protocols. We’ve Taken three typical types of routing protocols as the simulation model. RIP (Routing Information Protocol) is the oldest among OSPF & EIGR routing protocols. OSPF (open shortest path first) is the most widely used protocol and is based on Shortest Path First (SPF) Algorithm. EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol) is a Cisco proprietary routing protocol that runs on the Diffusion Algorithm (DUAL). And to demonstrate this in a Specific Network Environment. Cisco packet Tracer 8.0 is used to study and analyze the effect of Bandwidth, Delay, Communication Mode, and configuration. Index Terms- IGP Routing Protocol, Networking, RIPv2, OSPF, EIGRP, IPv4, Cisco Packet Tracer 8.0
