Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a public health problem in Indonesia which tends to increase in its incidence and spread more widely. The Mosquito Nest Eradication Movement (Pemberantasan Sarang Nyamuk=PSN) is used as the main strategy in DHF control programs through community empowerment. Community service activities are realized through 3 stages, namely the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the evaluation stage. The subjects in this activity were members of the fishermen's association of Gisik Cemandi Village, Sidoarjo. PSN implementation analysis using a questionnaire. This activity was carried out in Gisik Cemandi Village, Sidoarjo, which was attended by 47 people. From the results of observation and analysis it was found that 36.17% of the residents had not yet carried out eradicating mosquito nests. Community empowerment was maximized as an effort to reduce the incidence of DHF through counseling with DHF material and eradicating mosquito nests with 5M, and distributing abate powder to residents. The people of Gisik Cemandi Village are enthusiastic about empowerment activities. A conducive environment and community participation are the basis for improving public health status, and it is hoped that it will improve the quality of life of coastal communities. Community empowerment is a comprehensive and significant process in increasing the ability and self-reliance of the community which aims to improve the quality of life of the community so that it will create a prosperous society
