Abstract

The need for more effective management of engineering, architectural, and planning organizations is becoming increasingly acute as our society becomes more sophisticated and complex. Part of the response to this need has been an increased emphasis in the past few years on communicating project costs to staff. This paper addresses the need and justification for this effort, and discusses organizational patterns and training programs which have proved effective in practice for professional firms.
