Abstract
The physics of various low-frequency electrostatic and electromagnetic waves in a nonuniform magnetoplasma is revisited. It is shown that the approach of Saleem and Haque [Phys. Plasmas 8, 368 (2001)] is misleading with regard to the electrostatic limit and the role of the quasineutrality approximation.
