Abstract
Summary A paper has been published in Journal of Hydrology, using feed-forward artificial neural network (ANN) for flow forecasting for a Hawaii stream. The present paper attempts to discuss and comment on the paper. The amount of data used in the paper is not enough to determine the number of fitting parameters in the networks. Therefore, the models are not mathematically sound or justified. The conclusion is that ANN modelling should be used with care and enough data.
