Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of combination of ebastine and cimetidine for allergic skin diseases. Methods 160 patients with allergic skin disease were divided into a control group and a study group using random number table method, 80 cases for each group. The control group orally took 10 mg ebastine, once a day; the study group orally took 10 mg ebastine and 200 mg cimetidine, once a day. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks. The clinical symptom score, treatment effects, and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups before and after the treatment. The patients were followed up for one month and the recurrences of the two groups were observed. Results After the treatment, the symptom score of the study group was significantly lower than that of the control group (t=3.438, P=0.001). There was a statistical difference in the distribution of curative effect between the two groups (Z=2.397, P=0.017); and the total effective rate of the study group was significantly higher than that of the control group (χ2=4.440, P=0.035). There were no statistical differences in the adverse reaction rate and the symptom recurrence rate within one month between the two groups (both P>0.05). Conclusion The combination of cimetidine and ebastine for allergic skin diseases is more effective than the single ebastine treatment. Key words: Ebastine; Cimetidine; Combination regimen; Allergic skin disease
