Abstract

The influence of an external electric field on the state of a system of molecules possessing permanent electric moments is considered. In strong fields the intermolecular attraction transverse to the field direction is suppressed by the electrostatic repulsion. In the longitudinal direction the system is stabilized due to the molecular zero-oscillations. The system cannot undergo van der Waals condensation, but Bose-Einstein condensation becomes possible.
