Abstract

Objective To investigate cognition and application of totally implantable infusion port in nurses of Oncology Department and chemotherapy patients, so as to provide evidence for clinical application. Methods Self designed questionnaire was used to investigate current status in 30 chemotherapy patients and 60 nurses of Oncology Department in one Beijing level three class A hospital. Results As a new type of intravenous administration, the cognition of totally implantable infusion port was low in patients with no understand 46.67%, 80.00% patients only learning form nurses training, 66.67% patients acquiring knowledge from health education; after application of totally implantable infusion port, 80.00% patients and 65.00% nurses believed totally implantable infusion port was convenient for work and livelihood and 63.33% patients and 73.33% nurses considered it was worthy of clinical promotion. Conclusions Totally implantable infusion port is convenient for malignant tumor patients, so we should actively carry out its health education to increase nurses and patients′ knowledge awareness, in order to improve clinical application.
